Bill Daniels Businessman Sports enthusiast  Steadfast

Bill Daniels was known as the “Father of Cable Television”. His business brought television to rural and hard to reach communities.  The success of his cable TV business made him enough money to buy the Basketball team, the Los Angeles Stars and moved the team to Utah.  Many fans enjoyed the Utah Stars and cheered them on to win the American Basketball Association championship in 1971. However, even with this success, the franchise was not profitable and ended up going bankrupt in 1975.  The team had to end their season early and 3000 season ticket holders were out their money.  Mr. Daniels felt terrible about all those people that had lost their money and five years later, in 1980, Bill Daniels paid back all the season ticket holders the cost of their tickets plus interest amounting to $750,000.
